- A prescription listing active ingredients, not only brand names — useful if you continue treatment at home.
- Photographs of every document as soon as you receive them, in case the paper copies go missing.
Insurers differ in what they require. If you are well enough and have a moment beforehand, check quickly whether your provider expects prior notification or specific documentation.

- Write a short timeline of your symptoms in English: when it started and how it changed
- List current medicines by active ingredient, plus any known drug allergies
